Join us on March 11 at 2:00 PM for a timely virtual conversation about how immigration policy and democratic institutions are impacting communities here in Eastern Connecticut, and what we can do together in response.

While national headlines often focus on events in places like Minnesota, the realities of immigration enforcement and threats to democratic norms are also unfolding in communities such as New London, Norwich, and Hartford. This conversation will explore who is directly impacted (all of us), how these issues are shaping life in Connecticut, and what meaningful action looks like at the local level.

Featured Speakers

  • Kica Matos, President of the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) and the Immigrant Justice Fund (IJF)
  • David J. McGuire, Executive Director of the ACLU of Connecticut
  • Kathleen Tonry, Co-Director and Co-Founder of The Neighbor Fund

The discussion will be facilitated by Tabitha Sookdeo, Executive Director of Connecticut Students for a Dream.

This event will be held via Zoom and will provide an opportunity to hear directly from leaders working at the intersection of immigration policy, civil rights, and community support—followed by guidance on how individuals and organizations in Eastern Connecticut can respond constructively and collaboratively.
