A Message from the Community Foundation

We are pleased to announce that Marilynn "Lynn" Malerba, the Community Foundation's Board Chair, has been nominated to be U.S. treasurer and will head the newly established Office of Tribal and Native Affairs at the Treasury Department.

Lynn became the 18th Chief of the Mohegan Tribe in August 2010 and is the first female Chief in the tribe’s modern history. She follows in the footsteps of many strong female role models in the Mohegan Tribe, including her mother, Loretta Roberge. Prior to becoming Chief, Lynn served as Chairwoman of the Tribal Council, and served in Tribal Government as Executive Director of Health and Human Services.

The Community Foundation is deeply honored and privileged to have had Lynn's leadership on our board for the last 5 years. She has led with integrity and courage. We will miss her astute guidance but we are so elated and proud that her wisdom in this important national role will impact and benefit all of America.

Congratulations, Chief Malerba, and thank you for all you do every day to make the world a better place!
